High Schools Top State SAT Scores

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District?s two high schools again produced the highest SAT scores in North Carolina.
Chapel Hill High?s average was 1,202, ranking first in the state. East Chapel Hill High, with a score of 1.175, was second.
The combined average score was 1,189 ? an all-time high for the school district.
The results also showed se?rious gains for black and Latino students.
On average, black students scored 939, a 50-point gain over last year?s results. Latino stu?dents scored a 1,098 average, a 114-point gain.
As usual, district averages far exceeded national and state averages. The average North Carolina student scored 1,008 and the average American stu?dent scored 1,021.
On a writing portion of the test, which debuted this year, district average was 580. The state average was 485 and the national avenge was 497.
